Body Found at Groningen Central Station
Police investigating after body discovered on station platform. A separate stabbing incident nearby was ruled as unrelated.
A deceased person was found on Tuesday morning at Groningen Central Station. The body was discovered near one of the platforms around the start of the morning rush hour, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Police and ProRail’s incident response team were on site to secure the area and begin an investigation. The cause of death is currently unknown. Train traffic experienced disruptions following the discovery.
Authorities have confirmed that this incident is not related to a separate event that occurred earlier that morning on nearby Cascadeplein, where a 47-year-old woman from Tolbert was injured in a stabbing. The police are still searching for the suspect in that case and have released a description.
Further updates on both investigations are expected as more information becomes available.
