Busses Return to Normal Schedule After Summer Holidays, Adding More Routes
Qbuzz adds more frequent buses, new express routes, and expanded night services in Groningen and surrounding areas starting August 24.
From Sunday, August 24, Qbuzz will resume its regular timetable in Groningen and the surrounding region. With the end of the summer holidays, bus services will not only return to pre-holiday levels but in many cases will expand further, offering faster and more frequent connections for commuters, students, and nightlife travellers.
More Frequent Q-link Services
Q-link lines 3 (Leek–Lewenborg) and 4 (Roden–Beijum) will again run every 10 minutes during rush hours. Extra buses are also scheduled in the evenings and weekends, aimed at accommodating returning students and people heading out for nightlife.
Q-link 6 (Appingedam–Groningen) will see more peak-hour buses, with additional morning services every 10 minutes and an earlier start to afternoon extras. The connection between Station Noord and Zernike Campus will also improve: eight buses per hour currently run, rising to twelve from September 1.
New Express Services
Two new express lines will be introduced:
Line 165 Zoutkamp–Winsum–Groningen: replacing line 66, this service will save travelers up to fifteen minutes and directly serve Zernike Campus.
Line 127 Emmen–Hoogeveen: a new peak-hour line that reduces travel time by up to 20 minutes compared to current routes.
In addition, adjustments to Qliner routes 304/314 (Groningen–Drachten) will ensure direct buses from Drachten to Groningen every 10 minutes in the morning rush.
Regional and City Adjustments
Other regional changes include an expanded route for line 178 (Groningen–Siddeburen–Appingedam/Woldendorp), replacing the discontinued line 678. Line 35 (Groningen–Aduard–Oldehove) will now extend to P+R Reitdiep in the evenings to maintain onward connections.
City line 8 (Groningen–Hoogkerk) will also get extra trips on busy Sunday mornings. Several stops on line 12 (Winschoten–Nieuweschans) will be removed, with a smaller shuttle bus serving parts of the route.
Night Bus Expansion
Travellers heading out late at night will see better service too. A new night bus 410 (Groningen–Vries–Assen) will run hourly on Saturday nights, giving Vries a night connection and ensuring half-hourly travel between Groningen and Assen together with line 409.
