“Developing Groningen as a City of Art”
Exploring Kunstpunt's mission to connect and enrich the city with the Street Art project and more.
Discover Groningen’s visual art hub - Kunstpunt. With a mission to make art accessible to everyone and enrich the city, this organisation connects artists and communities to develop Groningen as a city of art.
“Art gives Groningen colour. And Groningen inspires art.”
The street art project
Are you aware that the buildings you pass by every day on your commute route may have hidden secrets or historical significance? People often leave marks on buildings, sidewalks, and odd little corners to express themselves, remember something, or bring a smile to someone's face.
Kunstpunt has created an interactive map that allows you to discover the location of these artworks. You can learn about the history behind each piece and find out who created it. You can either make it a fun scavenger hunt activity and explore the works on your own or join one of the curated "art walks" in Groningen and surrounding provinces.
Walking or cycling through these art walks is a great and meaningful way to engage with the art community and learn about the identities behind each piece.
Platform for artists of Groningen
“Art should be accessible to everyone, which is why we connect you with it – at home, at school, in the office, on the street, at festivals and online.”
Want to explore exhibitions featuring local artists? Interested in buying or borrowing art? Perhaps you have a passion for creating your own art and are looking for ways to share it with others?
To ensure that art is accessible to everyone, it is important to build connections and engage with active communities. Hence, hubs such as this one facilitate centralised communication and information, creating opportunities for individuals to discover and be discovered by others who share a love for art.
Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned professional, joining such a community will allow you to learn, engage, and connect with like-minded enthusiasts and feed Groningen’s creative sector.
