Spinning Records and Pizza Slices - Kingsday at De Jongens Van Hemmes REVIEW
This year, King’s Day in Groningen was buzzing (as usual), and I found myself at a unique event that offered something a bit different. Hosted by Liminoid.collective and the vinyl shop De Jongens Van Hemmes, we were promised a blend of electronic music and good pizza. Needless to say, my friends and I couldn't resist checking it out.
Right from the start, the vibe was welcoming and informal. The place was set up with DJs spinning tracks inside the store and speakers outside, which kept the energy buzzing without drowning out the chance to chat. No matter how packed it got, there was always a space where you could enjoy the tunes and still have a conversation.
Onto the pizza. I’ve tried my fair share of Italian food around town, and the pizzas we snacked on at this event were top-tier. The chef knows their stuff. It was the kind of food that made you want to go back for seconds (and thirds). It's rare to find food at a music event that's anything to write home about, but these pizzas were a game changer.
I got a chance to chat with the owner of De Jongens Van Hemmes and a rep from Liminoid.collective. Even though they were super busy, they were really friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. It was cool to see local people who genuinely love their work and want to share that enthusiasm with others.
The hosts are a group of friends who share a love for music and art. In just 2 years they managed to create a community of music-loving people. After my day filled with fantastic music and even better food, I can assure you their next gathering is not to be missed. I can’t wait for it.
