Two Injured in Possible Stabbing Near Stationsweg in Groningen
Two people were hospitalised following a suspected stabbing near the NH Werkman Bridge; police are investigating possible links between both victims and a related disturbance at the station.
Two people were injured on Wednesday night in Groningen, possibly due to a stabbing incident near Stationsweg. The incident happened around 11:10 p.m. at the stairs leading to the NH Werkman Bridge.
Emergency services quickly arrived, including multiple police units and ambulances. One of the victims, a minor from Groningen, was found near the bridge, treated on the spot by paramedics, and taken to the hospital. His injuries appeared to be serious. A second person, slightly injured, showed up later at the police station on the Rademarkt around midnight. Police believe both individuals may have been involved in the same incident.
The area around the bridge and Stationsweg was partially blocked off while police spoke with witnesses and investigated the scene. The exact cause of the incident remains unclear, and the police are still working to determine what happened.
There was also a short disturbance near the police station shortly after the stabbing, which may be connected to the same event.
The police are continuing their investigation and have asked anyone with information to come forward.
